The adventure begins as the party arrives at Sky City, the chrome-plated capital of the Hawkmen, ruled by the mountain of a man, Prince Vultan. To convince the Prince to aid them, the party must first prove their strength and worth in a gladiatorial combat known as the Vigrid. This encounter forces the players to face Vultan's nephews, who are secretly trying to learn the plan to free their father from the same prison, setting up a tense and action-packed scene. After a brief but intense fight, the Prince, impressed by their ferocity, agrees to help, providing the party with Hawkmen to fly them to the entrance of the Molten Mires.
The second part of the adventure is a perilous journey through the Molten Mires, a swamp of volcanic fury and mutated muscle. The players have a two-hour window to reach the Bone Cage prison before nightfall, when the dangers of the swamp increase tenfold. A custom Jenga tower mechanic is used to represent their travel, with each pulled tile triggering a unique encounter. The party must navigate treacherous terrain, battle dangerous creatures like Otyughs and swamp apes, and avoid sinister vines and three-eyed trolls, all while trying to keep their sanity in a swamp that seems alive and malevolent.
The climax of the adventure takes place inside the infamous Bone Cage prison, which is guarded by Klytus's goons, gator-sized spiders, and fire-bog apes. The party must fight their way through the prison's multiple levels, each filled with its unique horrors, to find their friends, Jaq and Bembo. They must also locate and rescue Prince Vultan's brother, who is imprisoned there as well. The final stage of the rescue involves deactivating a shield that protects the prison, signaling their ship, the Bombshell, for a rooftop escape.
